2026 Classes
I offer a range of teaching sessions to small groups and individuals, they include:

Life Drawing Class for Beginners and Improvers
In this two-hour life drawing session designed for beginners and improvers, we create a welcoming and relaxed environment where you can explore figure drawing. Whether you’ve never picked up a pencil to draw the human form or you’re looking to build on some basic skills, this class offers a supportive space to learn and develop. We work from a live model. Gentle instruction is provided throughout.
The focus is on enjoyment and discovery rather than perfection, making it a great place to try life drawing for the first time. There’s no need to bring anything except some enthusiasm and a willingness to ‘have a go’. Materials are provided, and no previous experience is required. Whether you’re curious about drawing the figure or want to improve your observational skills, this session is the perfect opportunity to relax, draw, and learn in a friendly, creative atmosphere.

Colour Day Part 1 & Colour Day Part 2
Colour Day 1 provides a hands-on workshop exploring the art of colour. You’ll learn how to identify, mix, and balance colours while developing an understanding of tonal values and colour systems.
Through guided exercises, you’ll create your own linear colour scales and a chart demonstrating how to neutralise and adjust hues effectively. Due to the slow drying nature of oil paint (good for colour studies) the exercises will be carried out using oil paints—all equipment and materials are provided.
This session is all about experimenting, mixing, and discovering how colours interact. By the end of the session, you’ll have a deeper understanding of how to mix and apply accurate and harmonious colours to your own paintings.
Colour Day 2 builds on the practical skills learnt in colour day 1. We’ll look at structured colour and apply various structured colour approaches to create small paintings during the session. We’ll look, and experiment with simultaneous contrast and how we can use it to our best advantage in picture making. It would be advisable to complete Colour Day 1 before starting Colour Day 2.
10am to 3pm with a break for lunch (bring your own)
£75 (includes all equipment and materials)

Landscape Painting Class – Outdoor
In this four-hour outdoor painting session, set in the beautiful surroundings around Sussex, we create a relaxed and welcoming space for beginners and improvers to explore landscape painting outdoors. Whether you’re completely new to painting or looking to build on your basic skills, this class offers gentle guidance in a stunning natural setting. This teaching session will be focused on landscape painting techniques. The demonstration will be in oil paints, but Acrylic and Watercolour painters are welcome.
We’ll begin with a short introduction to key concepts such as composition and tonal values to help you get started. Then, with support available throughout, you’ll move on to create your own painting, inspired by your setting.
The focus is on enjoying the process and developing your observational skills, rather than creating a perfect finished piece. You’ll need to bring your own materials, a list of suggested materials and colours will be supplied when enquiring about booking. An easel can be provided or bring your own chair and easel if you prefer to sit. This is a great opportunity to slow down, connect with nature, and get creative in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Why not give it a try?

One-to-One teaching, your own art group or a lovely painting holiday!
One-to-one drawing or painting tuition offers a deeply personal and focused learning experience, shaped entirely around you and your creative direction. Whether working together in my studio or within the comfort of your own home, each session provides dedicated time to develop technique and build confidence. From those picking up a pencil or brush for the first time to improvers seeking fresh insight or refinement my lessons unfold at a pace that feels natural and encouraging. With thoughtful guidance and practical demonstration, these sessions create a relaxed yet productive environment where skills grow steadily and creativity can flourish.
Your own art group
If you happen to run your own small art group at home or in a studio, or just gather with a few friends who enjoy creating art together, I’d me more than happy to arrange a one-off class or a short series of lessons tailored to your own theme and abilities.
Painting holidays
From time to time, I am invited by small groups of artists to lead structured painting workshops as part of a long-weekend art holiday. These creative getaways combine inspiring locations, focused art tuition and the pleasure of spending time with like-minded people.
They are always enjoyable, rewarding experiences that offer a wonderful balance of learning, relaxation and artistic exploration. If you are interested in organising a painting holiday, please get in touch to discuss the possibilities.
