About the artist

Danny McBride is an artist and designer living and working in Shoreham by Sea, west Sussex.

“I love the extraordinary light that comes from the surrounding hills, river and sea, it makes Shoreham such a rich place to draw and paint.
A few years ago I was asked to design a sculpture resembling a shepherd to go on the roundabout in north Shoreham, it’s still there today, keeping the concrete sheep in order!

My first pieces of publicly available art were based on the vintage style travel posters from the early part of the 20th century. I love these old travel posters, they always make me feel I want to go to the place they are advertising. In 2013 I started to design a series based on my home town. Much to my delight, the people of Shoreham liked them enough to buy them and there are now 5 in the series. The ‘Shoreham Airport’ design has now travelled far and wide and copies have been sold to customers in Hawaii, Australia, USA and many european countries.
In 2014 I started to develop a range of watercolours of views in Sussex.
In 2015 I was commissioned by Adur & Worthing council to produce graphic designs for the glazing at the new Shoreham Centre. I took the same style approach as my ‘Beautiful Shoreham’ poster range and created views of old and new Shoreham, a collection of sailing vessels on the Adur and a celebration of the flight at Shoreham Airport.”
